Night Creatures

Night Creatures extends the Cannstatter Wasen Motion Series with a cinematic, almost surreal dimension. In the diffuse fog of the Cannstatter Wasen, the ride loses its function and transforms into a luminous figure - half machine, half creature.

Countless LEDs form an organic structure that appears to pulse within the haze. Colors break softly through the fog, creating an atmosphere closer to a futuristic cityscape than to a folk festival. The loud, hectic surroundings fade into the background. What remains is a moment of stillness, in which the object appears like a nocturnal visitor.

The scene feels fragmented, like a glimpse of a being from another world, caught in the transition between mechanical light and atmospheric space. This work does not describe what the Wasen is - but what becomes visible when fog dissolves context and certainty.

Night Creatures is part of the Cannstatter Wasen Motion Series, which reinterprets the festival as a kinetic, sculptural, and atmospheric study of light.
